Geography Board Game

This is a board game I designed primarily for Global 9 and Global 10 students. The purpose of the game is for students to review key concepts and events from Global Studies, as well as help students connect those events to their geographical location. In addition to reviewing key events and concepts, the game asks several geography questions. Additional game cards can be created to expand the game.

3D Geography Cube Puzzle

This activity was designed for Global 9 and Global 10 students to help them with their geography skills. For the first part of the project, students have to assemble the puzzle pieces. Once the pieces are assembled, students must assemble the pieces to form a 3D cube. Included with this activity are alternative activities, for students to complete. For example, students can be asked to identify the continent containing the Alps.

Social Geography Flash Game

This is an application I developed in my Authoring and Scripting Multimedia course. I designed this program to help Global 9 and 10 students examine two key themes in geography: how geography shapes human history and how humans shape their environment. When students first run the program, they can only access the first section on Geographical Features. As students use the program, they must fill out a worksheet. In order for students to access the second section, How Geography Shaped Human History, they must answer a question. The question is about something they have learned from the first section. In order for students to access the third section (How Humans Shape Their Environment), they must complete the second section in order to find the answer to the question leading to section three. Once students complete the first three sections, they can access the review game, in which students must drag and drop items to their correct geographical location. I recieved the OPLT Outstanding Interactive Multimedia Production Award for this application.

Note: This application requires the newest version of Flash Player (available at www.adobe.com) to run. Best viewed with a screen resolution of at least 1024 x 768. The application may take a few minutes to load.  May not work in Google Chrome.  Best viewed in Mozilla Firefox

King Henry VIII Animation

This was an animation I created in my Authoring and Scripting Course. This video can be shown in a Global 9 or 10 course. The purpose of the video is to explain why King Henry VIII had six wives, and what happened to them.

Note: The animation is hosted on YouTube and may be blocked by your network's firewall.

Geometry Review Worksheets

While long-term tutoring a student for PCS, the student I worked with struggled with Geometry.  To help the individual, I created a number of worksheets to help the student review key terms, concepts, and provide them with extra practice as often the class notes and homework assignments were not enough practice to help them understand the material.  The student found the extra worksheets and practice materials I developed helpful.

Graphic Design- Classroom Posters

In my spare time and during summers, I design and sell classroom posters and other products for various subjects through print-on-demand website Zazzle.  Although my background is Social Studies, I have a strong background in other content areas, thus have designed posters for other subject areas, including, but not limited to:  English, French, Geometry, and Science.
