The Task:
The objective is to create a new Constitution, and persuade your classmates to ratify your constitution. To reach the objective, this project is divided into four tasks. These four tasks are:
Task 1: Develop a Legislative Branch
Task Requirements:
- Examine three primary documents, each proposing a different structure for a legislative branch
- Discuss and Debate the pros and cons of each legislative branch structure
- Write a document outlining your group's legislative branch
Task 2: Develop an Executive Branch and Establish the Election Process
Tasks Requirements:
- Examine one document exploring the various issues the delegates faced in designing the executive branch
- Discuss and Debate the pros and cons of each executive branch structure
- Write a document outlining your group's executive branch
Task 3: Finalize the Constitution
Task Requirements:
- Write a draft of the constitution. Include written pieces from Task 1 and Task 2
- Develop a preamble
- Discuss and Debate at least TWO of the suggested issues listed in the Process section
- Include any additional details in your group's constitution
Task 4: Persuade Anti-Federalists and the 13 States to Ratify the New Constitution
Task Requirements:
- Examine documents exploring Anti-Federalist beliefs regarding the US Constitution
- Present constitution draft to members of the other groups
- Make any amendments, if need be
- Present group constitution to class for ratification vote
