Introduction:

Independence Hall, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This is where the delegates met for the Constitutional Convention throughout the summer of 1787.

The year is 1787. The United States is still in its infancy, and having issues with its government, created by the Articles of Confederation. After much deliberation, 55 delegates from 12 of the 13 states decided to meet in Philadelphia during the summer and under closed-doors to draft a new constitution.

However, the summer the delegates met was hot and grueling. Outsiders had no clue as to what was going on behind the closed doors, but what unfolded took place without electricity, meaning there was no air conditioners and no fans, and therefore, nothing to provide relief from the unbearable heat. To make matters worse, the delegates were locked inside a stuffy building, with all the windows closed as they worked on the important task of creating the new government. As the intense heat wave wore on, the heated debates became hotter as the delegates quarreled over how the new government should be structured and how much power it should wield.

As delegates from the 12 states in attendance, it is your job to work together to discuss these issues, create a new constitution, and persuade the states to ratify it.
